Focus and Scope
Sri Lanka Veterinary Journal (SLVJ) is the official publication of the Sri Lanka Veterinary Association (SLVA). The SLVJ aims to share and discuss scientific information and new developments in the field of veterinary medicine and allied sciences with practising veterinarians by publishing original research and reviews articles. Clinical communications/Case reports, short communications, and letters to the Editor are also published. The Journal also carries news and activities of the veterinary profession in Sri Lanka and elsewhere.

The journal publishes two issues per year.
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
Authors of articles published remain the copyright holders and grant third parties the right to use, reproduce, and share the article according to the Creative Commons license agreement.
This journal is available for LOCKSS harvesting, to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. See LOCKSS harvesting start page.

Up to the 62nd volume, there were 1-2 volumes per year. From the 63rd volume there will be 2 volumes per year.
First year of journal publication (inaugural issue) was 1953. Due to the civil unrest in the country, the journal was not published for several years.
